2006 Chevrolet Silverado
Mileage261,553Service Date3/27/2026Services Performed- Diesel electronic engine control system performance tests: Check for stored fault codes. Monitor data stream parameters. Perform pinpoint tests for listed fault codes. Unable to reproduce code at this time. Symptom is easily duplicated under load. Watching live data while client drove with trailer, Tech was able to monitor valve operation. Valve would hang open quenching the combustion process. Recommend EGR Valve replacement. After EGR valve replacement Truck had a distinct fuel knock under load but no coding. Recommended pulling injectors for bench testing
- Removed existing EGR Valve and installed new component. No labor charged as valve only lasted 30,000 miles.
- Pulled the injectors and shipped same to Oregon Fuel Injection. Bench testing showed 6 of 8 had failed. Installed a new set of Bosch reman injectors. Repair is outside of warranty period, but providing labor at no cost and parts at our cost. Unsure why injectors failed in only 26,428 miles.
- Bench testing injectors showed that 5 were leaking. One injector leaking from the nozzle and 4 leaking from the nozzle holder. One injector failed due to high return flow. Recommend replacement of all 8 due to failures
- Updated PCM software to current files.
